I’ve received some samples of Kumiko sponge – made from Konjac plant, launched this year!
Konjac is very popular food in Japan, often used for dish called Oden. It is a plant of the genus Amorphophallus, used as a vegan substitute for gelatin. Japanese have been eating Konjac for over 1500 years. It has little taste but known to be very high in fiber and used as a cholesterol treatment to reduce levels in the blood. But.. I’ve never heard of the sponge made from Konjac!
Apparently, it can be used without cleansing liquids and naturally balances skin’s PH level. Texture is nice for gentle scrub and it does feel good on skin.
According to their web site:
-It locks in moisture
within skin layers for added protection and moisturizing (seems that way).
- It stimulates growth of the cell that produces collagen (not sure…)
No contaminants, no additives, 100% colour free, 100% biodegradable, naturally sustainable
I will try for a while to see if my skin feels better in long run! www.kumikosponge.com
