Don’t you get bored while doing your nails? It’s kind of difficult to text, talk to your friend, or browse the web… That’s where Vanity Projects comes in – here, you can watch contemporary Avant Garde art videos while doing high-end nail art!
Following her success of setting up popup nail salons at the Brooklyn Museum, MOMA PS1, etc., Rita de Alencar Pinto, art curator, opened up the Vanity Projects in July 2013. The videos (usually 4-12 minutes and change periodically) that are projected onto the wall are all carefully curated by Rita – they are very inspiring and stimulating.
Vanity Projects also boast their celebrity nail artists including Naomi Yasuda, Fleury Rose. They can offer customized nail art…. from hippy and bohemian, to elegant and sophisticated – whatever you desire!
“This is like atelier.. girls (nail artists) can position as an artist, not as one of the staff at a nail salon. I truly believe that girls have own identity as a true artist”. It’s nice to hear that Rita helps to promote those nail artists through fashion week, special events, etc.
You don’t need pricy nail arts, but still want to enjoy watching independent videos while polishing your nail? No problem! Vanity Projects also provides regular manicures for everyone! ($18.00)
